10/1/07 - Decatur BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass Festival
Hoards of Decatur neighbors, music lovers, and beer connoisseurs flocked to Harmony Park in Oakhurst for the 7th Annual BBQ, Blues and Bluegrass Festival on August 18th, 2007. It was literally the hottest show we've ever had!

The festival drew more than 130 volunteers and 4000 paying attendees, who enjoyed music on the lawn, played at the children’s area, and visited sponsor booths for a mere $5. OB's Barbeque served up lip - smacking good food for the masses, and the beer-tents saw steady action. The legendary Beverly "Guitar" Watkins headlined the show, performing in her own inimitable style. Hair of the Dog played a fast paced, good-time set of blues tinged with a little Cajun sound. Newcomers Stone House Posse took the crowd on an exciting ride of hillbilly funk. The rest of the stunning lineup featured Decatur bluegrass artists Porch Bottom Boys, Atlanta-based Dapple Greys, and Peachtree Station..

The Community Center of South Decatur organized the festival along with the Oakhurst Neighborhood Association and the Decatur Recreation Department. Festival proceeds will directly support the Decatur community through various programs and initiatives by these three organizations. The Community Center heartily thanks all who attended and helped put on such a successful event..

The party keeps getting better and better. Planning has begun for the August 16th, 2008 8th Annual version. Mark your calendar now for another fun time down at the cross roads.
